Chile: state of emergency declared and a curfew imposed in the night of 25 to 26 February due to an unprecedented power outage caused by a technical fault. A state of emergency was also declared in the regions of Nuble and Maule due to forest fires.
Germany : car-ramming attack during a trade union demonstration in Munich 13 February (2 dead 36 injured). The AfD achieved a historic breakthrough in the 23 February legislative elections, won by the CDU conservative party.
Greece: state of emergency declared in Santorini until 3 March and on the island of Amorgos until 11 March due to the increase and intense nature of the seismic activity. National mass protests staged in demand of justice in the Tempi train crash 28 February 2023, giving rise to clashes in Athens.
Türkiye: Abdullah Öcalan, the imprisoned leader of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), called for the dissolution of the separatist group and the end of the armed struggle 27 February.
